Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is a specific form of bullying that occurs deliberately and repeatedly through the use of computers, cell phones, and other forms of technology. Although both bullying and cyberbullying are close in comparison, I think that cyberbullying is the more severe of the two. Bullying and harassment has been a social issue for a while, and when technology is mixed, it allows the bully to create ways to continue their harassment off of school grounds and out of parents’ sights. An example of a form of cyberbullying would be to intentionally send someone abrasive and cruel messages anonymously on the internet as a means to cause distress and suffering. After reading the article, “Warily, Schools Watch Students on the Internet”, I think that with the school districts and Geo Listening working together, they can create a way to moderate students without violating their rights. I don’t see it as a harmful thing, and would make a bully think twice about what they write in on the internet fear of being penalized.

  1. I agree, I think cyberbullying is actually worse then bullying itself because there is no limits to what a person can say or do online. Atleast with bullying other people can see and stop it from happening. Definitely not the case with cyberbullying.

  2. I agree with you cyberbllying is hurtful than bullying because to me it's like show the world how the person is the worst which is not cool and very hurtful to the person.

  3. I agree. It is probably easier to bully someone when behind a screen.

  4. Agreed. Plus with cyber-bullying there is no escape for the person being bullied. Before the tech age, kids that were bullied could escape the harassment by going home or somewhere safe. Nowadays, there is no escaping the torment when social media is always available for all to see.
